I volunteered at Reading this year and was amazed by the experience! Having never volunteered at a festival before I was expecting it to be a lot more work, and expected to miss a few bands that I wanted to see.. but no, the work was so simple and enjoyable, I almost looked forward to my next shift throughout the week! Patrolling the campsites also meant talking to people and still being able to enjoy the festival atmosphere. All the staff for Hotbox were so lovely, also down to have a laugh with us, and I got to see all the bands that I wanted to see, it felt like a win-win situation.
I also met some lovely people, and can't wait until next year to see them again!
We will also be volunteering at Download and Latitude with you next year! As we feel it's the perfect way to enjoy a festival or even experience a new festival, without spending so much money on it. As especially at my age (18), getting that kind of money together to pay for full entrance plus drink and everything, is quite a struggle. And as I said, working there almost gives you a reason to meet new people, so even an introvert like me managed to make new friends, all thanks to Hotbox.
So thank you for the opportunity to have done this, I can't think of a better way to have spent a week off work, I had an amazing time!
