We're very happy to announce that festival volunteer deposits will be reduced for 2017!
The security deposit system was originally introduced in 2003 to reduce the problem of staff and volunteers applying, then either not turning up at the festival, or turning up, taking their crew pass, and then disappearing into the festival without working any shifts.
The festival's staff and volunteers are a key component of the event's licence to run, therefore any staff and volunteers who don't turn up or decide to not work their shifts cause Hotbox Events and in turn the festival organisers a serious problem; needing to be replaced at the last minute. We weren't keen to bring in the deposit system, but it has cut the problem from around 40% to 3%.
Over the years, the deposit has naturally increased with the festival ticket prices from £125 in 2003 to last year's £230.
We've listened to your feedback over the past couple of years; that the deposit price is now too high for some of you to join us.
We've taken this feedback to the festival organisers who set the deposit price, recommending that it is lowered. Due to the fantastic performance and reliability of our staff and volunteers over the years, they've agreed we can lower the deposit to £145 on a trial basis for 2017.
We hope this comes as a very welcome reduction for our regular staff and volunteers, and will enable many of those previously not able to join us to apply to work and volunteer with Hotbox Events in 2017!
As usual, you'll only need to pay one deposit for as many festivals as you'd like to volunteer at with Hotbox Events in 2017, so this summer one deposit will cover you for Download Festival, V Festival, Latitude Festival, plus Reading Festival or Leeds Festival!
