The impact of Coronavirus COVID-19 on the 2020 Music Festival Season

The impact of Coronavirus COVID-19 on the 2020 Music Festival Season

Friday, March 20, 2020

We'd firstly like to send out our very best wishes to everyone who regularly joins us each summer, and to everyone planning to join us for the first time in 2020. We hope you're safe, well, and where you're able doing all you can to make sure those around you are too. With the isolation, it may not seem it at times, although we're all in this together, and will come out of it, together.

Looking to the 2020 festival season...

We're sure your summer festival jobs, and volunteer places, are far from the top of your list of concerns right now, although we know many of you are wondering where the current situation leaves this summer's festivals...

We'd love to be able to give you a firm answer, although like you, we really don't know.

We're talking daily with the organisers of the festivals we work with, who have advised that they're continuing with the planning process, in the hope the festivals will go ahead, whilst continually reviewing the situation and taking guidance from the UK Government and WHO.

So, the advice we're receiving is that currently all the festivals Hotbox Events works with are going ahead as planned.

We realise that this may seem unlikely to some of you, considering the festivals and events that have already been cancelled.

Hopefully they will go ahead, maybe they'll be pushed back a bit...

We just don't know, and we wish as much as many of you that we did.

As soon as we know more, we promise we'll let you know. That said, you're likely to know at the same time as us as any announcements will come out to us all from the festival organisers.

So, keep an eye on the festival organisers' websites and socials, and ours, and as soon as we know you will.

As far as applications and deposits...

Applications for all of the festivals we work with, so Download, Latitude, Camp Bestival, Reading and Leeds are still open. If you would like to apply and pay your deposit, we'll confirm your position.

Any deposit you pay or have paid is safe; held in a ring-fenced account. Should a festival we work with be cancelled, if that is the only festival you were planning on working or volunteering at we'll return your deposit.

If you have any questions, we're all still working so please don't hesitate to email or call the office or get in touch via one of our socials.

We very much hope we'll be seeing you in a music filled festival field soon 😊

Stay safe and look after each other.

Mark Hatchard

Managing Director, Hotbox Events
