Our Latitude Festival volunteers and paid stewards work in different areas of the festival site, in different roles and with a different number of shifts. Whether you choose to volunteer or work as a paid tower steward will depend on what you want to get out of your experience at Latitude Festival!

NOTE: Paid fire toward steward positions are not usually released until a few weeks before the festival. If you can't see an option to apply now, you can apply as a volunteer and switch later, or wait until we make the announcement that steward positions have opened in our Facebook group and newsletter.

Our Latitude Festival volunteers work 3x 8-hour shifts spread across the festival, usually one early shift, one late shift and one night shift. They work either as Campsite Assistant Teams or In The Woods Pixies and can be found across the festival site assisting with a wide variety of tasks. It'd be tricky to list everything we get up to, but some of the most common tasks include:

  • Assisting Latitude Festival-goers with directions.
  • Helping Latitude Festival-goers carry their belongings and pitch their tents.
  • Answering questions about Latitude Festival performances and line-ups.
  • Reporting any problems, such as a build-up of litter or faulty facilities.
  • Working alongside the Latitude Festival Fire Safety, Medical and Security teams.
  • Assisting with various roles across the Latitude site, including stewarding pedestrian and vehicle gates, handling wristband exchanges, overseeing facilities, and monitoring stages and walkways.
  • Making sure festival-goers have the best time possible at Latitude Festival!

Our Latitude Festival paid tower stewards work 4/5x 8-hour shifts and have one shift every day. They can be found working on the fire towers around festival site and are paid £13.73 per hour, including holiday pay (for those on PAYE).

We've listed the most common tasks the Latitude Festival paid tower stewards help with below:

  • Acting as a Spotter at the top of the fire towers, keeping an eye out for any hazards, suspicious behaviour or anyone in need of assistance.
  • Reporting any issues you spot to the volunteers and security teams on the ground.
  • Responding to any small fires within the campsites and passing on the location of any larger fires to the event's fire service team.
  • Helping the event's ingress and egress run smoothly.
  • Working alongside Latitude Festival Fire Safety, Medical and Security teams to keep Latitude Festival a safe event for everyone.

We work very hard to ensure that everyone who joins us at Latitude Festival has an amazing experience - and that includes giving you a great shift pattern!

We know how important it is that you have time off-shift to watch your favourite bands, so everyone who joins us has the opportunity to select shift preferences and receive their schedule before arriving at the festival.

Volunteer shift patterns

Volunteer shift patterns at Latitude Festival are arranged by way of shift preferences that you can select. A few weeks before the festival, we'll open shift selection and let you know via email, our news and socials that it’s time to login and make your choices. There are usually 20-30 volunteer shift patterns for you to rank from the most, to the least, preferable.

All Latitude Festival volunteer shift patterns contain 3x 8-hour shifts. Most of these shift patterns contain 1x Early (09:00 - 17:00), 1x Late (17:00 - 01:00) and 1x Night (01:00 - 09:00) shift.

Shift patterns are allocated based on deposit payment date. Therefore, the earlier you apply and pay the refundable deposit to confirm your place, the better chance you have of being allocated your top choice shift pattern!

We guarantee all volunteers have at least two of the main festival evenings off-shift to watch the bands. Some volunteers will even have all three evenings off!

Paid tower steward shift patterns

Paid tower stewards will have a choice of around 5-10 different shift patterns, all of which have either four or five shifts. Some of these shift patterns will have four of the same shift (for example, 4x 17:00 - 01:00 shifts), and others will have a variety of different shifts (for example, 2x 09:00 - 17:00 shifts, 1x 17:00 - 01:00 shift and 1x 01:00 - 09:00 shift).

Your shift pattern will be allocated based on your shift preferences and deposit payment date. So, if you have a particular preference for one shift pattern over another, we recommend applying and paying your deposit early!

When you volunteer or work as a paid steward with Hotbox Events at Latitude Festival, we make sure you have all you need to complete your shifts and have a safe and enjoyable week!

Here are the essentials we always provide at Latitude Festival – and once you're onsite, we're always around if there's anything else you need!

  • An info pack will be uploaded to your Hotbox Events PAAM portal a few weeks before Latitude. In this pack, you will find thorough details of your role, responsibilities and other information about the festival.
  • We guarantee you'll have the same shift pattern as anyone you list in the 'Friends' section of your Hotbox Events PAAM profile!
  • Secure Latitude Festival parking within walking distance of (and often right next to) your own private campsite!
  • A private and secure Latitude volunteer and steward camping area within the main festival crew area. The Hotbox festival office is also here, so we're always close-by if you need anything!
  • A Latitude volunteer and steward marquee with chairs, tables, device charging points, hot water and free tea, coffee and biscuits!
  • Free festival wi-fi, exclusive to Hotbox volunteers and stewards within the Hotbox compound.
  • Access to Latitude Festival crew toilets and hot showers!
  • Access to an exclusive Latitude crew catering provision, which will save you money on your festival meals.
  • A Latitude crew pass, which will allow you to move about the festival and access the arena when you're not on shift.
  • A thorough onsite briefing and Q&A from us and other Latitude Festival teams before you start work.
  • Everything you'll need at the beginning of each shift, including a Latitude Festival tabard, a radio and any PPE required.

There are a few bits below you'll need to make sure of when applying to volunteer or steward with us at Latitude Festival:

  • Be 18 years old or over by the day you arrive onsite.
  • Be available to arrive onsite on either Tuesday 21st or Wednesday 22nd July 2026 and attend an onsite briefing at 19:00 that evening. You will need to attend the briefing on the day before your first shift (eg. if your first shift is on Wednesday, you need to arrive on Tuesday and attend the Tuesday evening briefing). We strongly recommend planning to arrive several hours before your briefing time, as you will need to sign in, go through security checks and collect your accreditation before the briefing.
  • You're welcome to arrive at Latitude Festival from midday on Tuesday 21st.[Please be mindful of the need to attend the briefing one day before your first shift when selecting your shift preferences a few weeks before the festival.]
  • If applying to volunteer, be available to volunteer for 3x 8-hour shifts at any time between 09:00 Wednesday 22nd July (or 01:00 Thursday if arriving for the later briefing) and 14:00 Monday 27th July.
  • If applying to be a paid tower steward, be available to work 4 or 5x 8-hour shifts (one shift every day), from 09:00 Thursday 23rd July to 14:00 Monday 27th July.
  • If applying to be a paid tower steward, be confident working at height and comfortable climbing ladders and being stood up for the majority of your shift.
  • Arrive at the Hotbox Events festival office one hour prior to your shift to be signed in and have your zone and/or position allocated. You will then need to allow between 5 and 30 minutes to make your way to your zone. This time is outside of your allocated 8-hour shift in a similar way that travelling to your place of work or study is outside of paid work or classroom hours.
  • Wear a Latitude Festival tabard when completing your shifts.
  • Be able to produce original documents that prove your right to work and volunteer in the UK when you arrive at the festival. You can read more about proving your right to work and volunteer in our FAQs
  • Provide a refundable security deposit.

The refundable deposit is your way of showing us you are committed to joining us at the festival.

You only need to pay one deposit a year to join us at as many festivals as you like!

Your deposit refund will be processed within 30 days of the end of the festival.

If this is your first time joining us at a festival, the refundable deposit is £95. If you've joined us before, the refundable deposit is discounted by almost 50% to £45!

There are no admin fees charged on deposits, so you'll receive your entire deposit back as long as you complete all of your shifts or cancel your place at least 20 days before the festival arrival date.

For more info about deposits, please head to the deposits section of our FAQs!

  • Firstly, I’d just like to say what a great time I had volunteering at Latitude. I met some great people, enjoyed working as part of the volunteer team, with the bonus of the festival on top. The volunteering process was very well organised, the pre-festival application process and information was very good. The shift supervisors were great - big shout out to Yvonne, Hannah & Paul all of whom were terrific. I was flying solo but had no problem in getting to meet others. We had quite a little crew going looking after the Family Camping – it was really good fun. Arrival and getting sorted once on site was straightforward as well, all well organised. It was a really good experience and I hope to be back next year.

  • Volunteering at latitude festival 2017 was not only the first festival I'd attended, but also the first festival I'd volunteered at.

Before I arrived I felt the prospect a little daunting, but as soon as I arrived in the "Hotbox" camp compound I felt more at ease. The briefing on the evening of the first day was also very informative and did help to equip me for my volunteering role.

Volunteering at Hotbox has really helped me grow in confidence and helped me realise I'm capable of a lot more.

    So thank you Hotbox.

  • I just wanted to tell you ‘Well Done’! It was my first time volunteering at a festival and everything, from the sign-up stage to me taking down my tent on Monday morning, went very smoothly and was well organised. I was really surprised when I was greeted and recognised by Emelia on Wednesday upon my arrival on site. I had been in touch with her beforehand with regards to my right to work status and I was well impressed that she had recognised me! It made me feel very welcome and well looked after! All three supervisors appointed (Rob, Craig and Richard) were really nice and did a great looking after us! Thank you again for the volunteering opportunity and I am looking forward to Reading Festival! P.S. Photo of a happy volunteer at the end of Shift 3 (Night Shift) attached :)

  • My experience at Latitude definitely has got me hooked on the festival atmosphere, everyone was incredibly friendly and having a place to charge your phone and make a cup of tea whenever you fancied was a definite luxury! I managed to see some of my all time favourite artists. Would definitely do it again, as a student its fantastic: a free festival in exchange for meeting new people!

  • Over the summer I volunteered at Latitude and Leeds Festival. I was a bit apprehensive at first coming alone but no word of a lie it was one of the best experiences of my life! Not only did I meet some amazing people on and off shift but I got to experience a whole new side of the festival. Thanks so much loved every bit and can't wait to come back next year!
