Hi,

This year is going to be my first years as a CAT so I don't really know how it all works. I have been allocated my team and wondering if the team allocations are final or if there is a potential swap system with other CATs?

Thanks,

Thom

Hi Thom, welcome to the CATs... first time maybe a little daunting at first, like everything I suppose, but for sure, amongst the CATs old and new... you'll have a great time and will make lots of new friends.

With regards to your shift allocation, please bear it in mind, that it's never straightforward to give everyone their first choice, someone will always have a better shift pattern than you but someone will always have a worse one too.

Many many hours from the management go into the allocations and many things are taken into consideration, deposit receipt dates, those applying in groups, ensuring that CATs get a decent amount of 'downtime' between shifts, and.. are, believe it or not, the shift patterns are worked out as fairly as can be possible.

That said, nothing is impossible but.. also never easy, unless of course there is someone that is prepared to swap their entire shift pattern with you. Swapping just one day of your allocation tends to throw the whole 'downtime' out of sync and causes the shift supervisors huge headaches, when they are deploying the teams out to the campsites, having to account for everyone of you/us.

My suggestion would be to arrive on site as planned and be prepared that you may not be able to swap, alert the girls in the office when you register that you would like to change, they will make a note of it at your registration and if anyone else should wish to change with you, they can try to make it happen.

Also, please be aware that the management team are slaving their guts away as we speak (type), trying to arrange every minute detail to ensure that the CATs are adequately deployed, suitably rested and ready to put in yet another great display of enthusiasm to make the festival a great success. It may therefore, be a while for any of the said management (moderators) to respond to your request on here.

Good luck.

Hey Thom,

Which team are you in and which did you want to swap to? I'm in team E and would be willing to swap for C or D (possibly even B)?

i'm looking to swap to team D from team C and hopefully someone will turn up who wants team C

I'm group B if anyone is interested in swapping for A, A.1, or D!

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew I'm in A and willing to swap to B if that's good with you?

aamb01 posted this 17 August 2011

That would be perfect! Any idea how we would go about doing it? We could e-mail hotbox, failing that we would be at the same induction and could sort it out then. Thoughts?

Many Regards,
Andrew

What if you only want to swap one shift? For example, I know somebody in group C, I am in group D, and I would want to swap my Saturday early shift for her previous night shift, meaning I'd have two night shifts (which I'm happy about, that'd leave me with 3 whole days of music!)

Is this possible?

I am in Group C and would change to literally any other group except B. I applied with three friends and I think those guys got their deposits in late landing us in our 6th preference (and I am more than willing to sell them out for a better shift.)

The best for me would be Team A (either of them).

You can contact me by email: thomas AT tuomas DOT co DOT uk

Cheers.

Hi Andrew yeah best thing just to email them I suppose, I already emailed them because all the people I applied with got put in B so I will email again saying I sorted it and have swapped, what's your fullname so I can tell them exactly who I have swapped with?

Hi Chris,

Sadly it is not possible for people to swap one shift as the allocation is already done once you sign in and then you stay in the same place for the rest of the shifts so sadly not.
