Hey all! Im off to latitude as a CAT by my todd this year- its going to be my 1st festival ive ever been to (at 24 thats shocking i know), so i have a few q's- mainly about the site.
How far is the crew camping from the carpark and main site?
Are the loo's proper loos?
What are the showers like? Proper cubicle jobs or ones where everyone can see your ass? :D- i know the idea is to join in and go home looking like a hobo but i love my showers!
Also whats the security like- i wont have anything valuable but would still like to take it all back with me.
Lastly- whats the tucker like? Burgers x 6 days = michelin man! [:0]
Thanking y'all kindly
p.s
(i had the email saying the info for us is avaliable for downloading- but keep getting a message saying the file is damaged and it wont open- anyone else have the same prob- or is it just me?>

everything is pretty close at latitude, crew camping is right by the crew car park, loos are a mix of flushing loos and long drops! Showers are proper cubicles and crew camping is secure.
Also crew cafe is very good
this is what it was like last year...hopefully be the same this year!!
hope that helps
Second what Bagsy said, except I can't vouch for the crew cafe other than I bought my daily bottle of chilled water from them.
around what time do they call it a night at festivals like reading&leeds? i guess there might be all night long party things, but what about the main stages with the headliners; are they done around midnight?
Thanks...sounds good t'me then [:D]
The main music stages at Reading & Leeds finish around 23:30, after which there are a couple of places for later night entertainment, such as Silent Disco, cabaret tent and cinema, which have later licenses. The arena usually shuts around 02:00. Leeds also has DJ's in the campsites, playing until the early hours of the morning.

Hi Ships
Just tested the file now and it opened fine, just check that you have the right software and that you have the latest version for viewing PDF files :)
Hey, thanks Jo- pdf reader needed re-installing so all good now [:D]

Hi Ships,
Advanced welcomes to your first ever festival. I hope its a good one for you.
Crew campsite isn't a million miles from the carpark thankfully. The main arena is probably 10 mins away too so it's pretty close.
Ah the loos. You may need to prepare yourself for the festival loo experience. Last year's latitude loos in the crew camp were long drops. Not the most pleasing of experiences for the senses so certainly not a place you want to linger. Saying that, as far as long drops go, they aren't the worst I've ever seen! (Leeds fest loos of 8 or 9 years ago were a sight to behold!).
The showers are portaloo style cubicles. They tend to flood a bit so bring flipflops to wear in there. And be warned, their temperature can fluctuate a bit so if you don't mind the occasional cold shower you'll be fine and your ass will remain unseen [:D]
Security in the crew camp is ok. Only members of crew can access them and there is almost always someone around in our campsite. Don't bring anything of value though and keep important things with you or better still, make use of any on site lockers and left luggage in the arena. Be aware of pick pockets when you're in the arena. Like many crowded places, this can be a bit of a problem.
Tucker is great. You might want to make use of the competative rate for the crew canteen, if you see Ami or Amii in the CAT office, they can provide you with meal vouchers and the cost for it will be deducted from your deposit so you don't have to worry about needing a lot of cash. Alternatively, you might want to try some of the awesome food stalls in the arena, there's plenty of choice and Latitude has some of the best food in all the festivals. Loch Fyne had a stall last year, serving really tasty fish dishes. So you can probably manage the entire week without touching a dirty festival burger!!![^]
another newbie, but for reading :)
Q: what are the crew toilets and showers like? cubicles or...? I've heard horror stories about the general public ones so hoping they're at least a bit better!
Cheers!
Last year was basically the same as above. Long drop toilets in the CAT compound. There were some better toilets near the cubicle showers which were a couple hundred yards from where we were camped. The long drops in the cat area, whilst still not the nicest of things, are a lot better than the public ones!!
Oh and welcome along :)
Having been to a number of festivals and previously been a self diagnosed 'long drop phobic', I can assure you that once you get used to the concept, it really is bearable and in my opinion, longdrops are better than portaloos... though that being said, we had portaloos in crew compound at Latitude this year and whilst a few were not very welcoming, didn't have toilet roll or soap... most of them were very clean, had toilet roll and hand gel/soap..you kinda just 'pick a door' open it, take a quick look and make your choice... do you go in or move on and try another door.. most of the time I was lucky with the first one I opened.
Make sure you take a small bag with you for your own toilet roll, wet wipes and hand gel just in case.
Question about driving to festivals: do we need a permit for parking? If so, how do I get one?
Thanks
Rach
Thanks :)
thanks for that reply earlier :)
another potentially pointless/stupid question:
on our profiles we have to decide what size crew t-shirt we want - what are small/medium/large actually like size-wise?? I like to think I'm somewhat normal-sized :)
Hi Lucy
If you log into your PAAM profile, you can select the size of your T-Shirt required in the main profile section.
Hello Lucy, welcome to CATs and the forum...
I'm a 40\" chest and I have a medium, it's a reasonably good fit, not too big, not too tight...about right I'd say.
Small would be ...err... smaller than the medium, and Large would be.. err... bigger than the medium..
I guess it depends on whether you want a tight fit, comfortable fit or loose fit...
Also, I'm not entirely sure whether there are Ladies (skinny) fit as well as Mens fit..maybe someone from management can confirm.
It may also be a suggestion to get one larger than you would normally wear, given that you could wear it over the top of a jumper/sweatshirt/hoody so it can still be seen under your tabard if it's a little chilly.
And, you can wear it as a night shirt afterwards too...
We just do the one type - we don't have ladies (skinny) fit. The sizes do vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer, although I've just checked and here are the approximate sizes we were provided by the manufacturer in 2009:
Small = 100 cm / 39\"
Medium = 106 cm / 42\"
Large = 112 cm / 44\"
X Large = 118 cm / 46.5\"
XX Large = 124 cm / 49\"
thank you!

Hi Jo,
I might be being really dense here, but I've checked and double checked and I can't find anywhere on my PAAM profile that asks for t-shirt size. Where is it?
Sian
Log in to your PAAM account.
Click on profile, then page down a bit and you'll see..
Crew T-Shirt
Crew T-Shirt Size (dropdown for sizes..)
Hey Sian
If you scroll down your profile, it is underneath the 'How did you find us section'.
Hi,
Thanks for your responses but it's just not there underneath that section for me. Seriously, nowhere on the page says 'Crew T-shirt'. Ah nevermind.
Cheers anyway :-)
I'm a size 10/12 and went for the medium t-shirt cos if u think about it if its too big you can wear it with leggings off one shoulder and it'll cover the neccessary bits OR with denim shorts and tie a knot in it round the back for a crop top look....Welllla! :)
Out of interest, why would you wear leggings off one shoulder...?
Are they not meant to be worn on the lower part of the body..? I thought the clue was in the name.. leg gings...
Or am I just an old fart... ;-)
Rhetorical question, no answer required...
I'm sure the 'off the shoulder' and the 'crop top with denim shorts' is a great look... however, not one that I would attempt....
I wear a large and I'm not exactly small, however unfortunately the t-shirts have to be worn the way you are given them, not altered at all
hi, is there any way i get to find wellies once onsite? are there any shops of that kind?
Usually there is, especially at Reading in the 'market way' where all the stalls are...... plus the Tesco is only 5 mins away, they prob sell wellies... not sure about Leeds, not been yet.... but I will be there in just over a week's time...

thanks mark, i hope i find a pair at the tesco, i don't want to get all muddy. you still share lift from london? i rushed and booked me a train ticket but i'll see if i can make any rearrangements. sharing a lift seems better than travelling on my own
Hi Yannis, I am still offering lift share from London yes, but I am now going to Leeds and not Reading.
If you can and want to cancel your ticket, check if you can get a refund... then happy to offer you a lift share for equal split in fuel costs.. nice big car, lots of room... could even buy your wellies in advance, plenty of room in the car for them.
Let me know if you want the lift... only one other at present, but do have room for 3 more plus normal amount of luggage or 2 more plus lotsa luggage...
HAHA to be honest they will also probably be worn off the shoulder by the end of the weekend too...after shifts completed that is [;)]

On the day we arrive do we just need to bring photo id and a copy of our PAAM profile to be admitted?
No tickets or anything needed?
photo ID, PAAM profile and CAT pack...that is all you need
Dont need/get given tickets
ID and PAAM profile should be fine, although if you do have difficulty at the gate then you can call one of the CAT Managers (phone numbers are in the CAT Information Pack).
i am far away from home, traveling, and i don't think of any way of having my cat pack with me -i suppose it will be sent at my house. shall i print out the pdf? can i get another one when i get there? plus i haven't uploaded a photo of me at the paam application, but i am carrying my passport with me. is that ok? i hope so!
If you are not at home to collect the posted copy, then yes; please print out the PDF copy to bring.
Random question, will our crew wristbands allow us into the VIP areas?
Simple answer. No... Although, if you're lucky one of the VIPs might walk through a Crew Area - A few CATs have been lucky enough to bump into various band members in the past.
