So I thought I would jump on the festival buzz and apply to volunteer at Reading this year! However, I didn't realise when I paid that it coincided with the England vs Ireland rugby match at Twickenham on the Saturday! (oops). What's the deal with shift patterns and leaving site? Like can I leave the festival on the Saturday to attend the rugby match as long as I do my quota of shifts when the shift selector comes out?

If the rugby doesnt coincide with a shift, your free time is yours to do with what you will. So if you want to go to the rubgy and it's not at the same time as a shift then your all good! The train from reading station to Twikenham is reasonably quick and in my experiance takes about an hour or so. If you book far enough in advance, tickets should be reasonably cheep.
