and travelling from the Brighton area?
I will be driving from Wiltshire but I am volunteering alone too. First time doing so and first time at Reading although I have been to Leeds and other festivals previously. I am looking forward to the new experience mainly and doing something a little different. I have read that you are put into groups for your shifts so there will be people to interact and talk with so we shouldn't be on our lonesome the whole week!
Hi! I'm going to be soloing it at reading! So glad I'm not the only one volunteering on my own!
This year is a first of festivals! Exciting but totally nerve racking!
I'm going to be on my own too :)) I went to Leeds pretty much on my own last year too and loved it! Made new friends and had an awesome time!
im going on my own to reading too, from either Birmingham or London. its my first big festival as well!!
Is anyone going to be catching the train up through London? Would be great to travel with some other Reading-goers!!
Is anybody going to volunteer on their own @ Leeds? :)
Hi! I'm volunteering alone at Reading as well! :D I'm getting there from Heathrow :3 It's the first time I'll be going/volunteering at a festival in the UK :333
Anyone travelling alone feel free go tag along to outlr group, we normally start off as 3 of us but then meet people and mingle together, we'll also be putting up a notice on the first night inviting everyone to drinking games so feel free to head over
Add me on fb if you wanna chat before, search for ultimoron to find me
Ta
Drinking games sound dangerous lol (although probably a good way of making new friends)!
I cant find you on fb... add me instead, search for ashanti Anderson and its the black and white photo with a dude in a dirty south hat on [:)]

Helloo, I'm volunteering solo at Reading as well :')
Taking a coach from Glasgow to London and still sorting out how to get from London to Reading. If anyone's driving and has a spare seat, I'd be more than happy to contribute to petrol costs for a lift(:

any lone volunteers in alpha1??
Confirmed as Delta1 today. Anyone else on that?
Echo 1! Looking for people on the same shift!

I'm on Delta 1, was my 4th choice so a bit gutted but suppose I have a couple of weeks to get used to it and get to know some of my fellow Delta-ers :)
Im Delta 1 aswell :)
what are you other Delta1-ers planning on doing? Getting there on the Tues or Weds?
im probably gonna do down Wednesday morning
I'll be there from Tuesday lunchtime, as had already booked my train ticket (lots of redspottedhanky credit which was expiring)! Always good to meet up with people before shifts start anyway :)

Chloé x
I'll be your friend Purple Hayze when our shifts don't clash ;)
Don't like Strongbow though (plus I know you from last year so technically I won't be a new friend lol)
Yea me too!! I'll be your friend again for booze!! Lol I'm easily bought
Is anyone going tomorrow (Tuesday) via London/via train????? In Bravo1, soloing it too!!
Going from London Liverpool Street to Paddington on tube, then train to Reading. Should be there about 11am and hopefully getting picked up from the station by a kind forum member ;)

So you're carrying me and I'm carrying the beer?
Oh right, not literally \"picking me up\" ;)
Just packed the car, have way too much stuff!!! Hope your not bringing too much with you! See ya in 12 1/2 hours eeeek!:)
Is anyone volunteering alone at Latitude? :) I was thinking of getting the train there unless anyone has any spare seats (petrol money would be given)!
Im driving up from Ipswich on the Tuesday
Hope - There's a thread specifically for lift sharing, so you might get the help you need on there... Plus I'm another one volunteering alone at Latitude, so see you there...[:)]
Alright folks?
I'm flying down from Aberdeen to London then getting on the train, and finally on the shuttle bus (all on the Tuesday) - Proper Planes, Trains and Automobiles trip haha.
First time volunteering at a festival but been to plenty as a punter so really looking forward to it.
[:0]Woah, that's an effort and a half! Definitely putting the mad in Cyril there! Yeah first time as a volly here too.
yeah Alex, no half measures here! I've done a fair few festivals but want to start trying out ones i haven't been to before and this was top of my list (other than Glasto obvs). I've done a wee bit of vollie before so this seemed a logical idea.
Where you heading over from?
Ah just from Norwich (also on the Tues) and thanks to a lift from NR James off this forum. Yeah also done a fair bit of volunteering in various other fields before, over the years, so I thought it was high time I did some in an actual field! Yeah also done a fair few festivals before and also like trying out new ones (did Live @ Loch Lomond when on hols in the highlands, back in 2007 - that was a real bogfest!); I actually prefer medium to small ones, so lower key than this. Never done Glasto either. Despite this being on my doorstep I've never been but knew I had to get it in at some point, so the tenth anniversary seemed fitting. Well, that and my favourite band will be headlining on the Saturday! Sod's law though; I've got loads of mates that have been many times over the last 9 years, as you'd expect, but none of them can make it this year for various reasons.
Fingers crossed you get a favourable shift pattern eh? I'm kinda hoping to catch bands most of saturday and Sunday evening.... anything else is a bonus.
I'm actually buzzing for this. 5 weeks and counting!
Yeah they told me I could set my preferences a couple of weekends back so I got that all sorted asap, so the 5 that clashed with their set are right down the bottom, leaving me with 20 that are fine, so the odds are good...touch wood! I got my payment sorted in early May, I think, so they prioritise allocations based on that, iirc - and start divvying them out in mid June (so from next week). There's a good few I'd love to catch on top, but you know the drill with festies: never plan too much and don't get your heart set on catching all your faves or having some chock-a-block schedule, so as long as I see [P] then anything and everything else on top is a bonus - as you say. Yeah at the top of my prefs were the Foxtrot shifts that start earlier in the week but leave you the Sat & Sun free, but there's only a few of them and they're bound to be the most popular, so I won't get my hopes up on those...! I'd rather not be a Pixie tbh though - I think I'd be better off as a troll or a goblin! Nah, fancy dress isn't my thing so those are next lowest in the prefs.
This is my first time volunteering at Reading, going solo! Is anyone travelling from Glasgow area?? [:D] not sure of the best way to get to the festival from here!
Hey Hope I am! What team are you on?
