So who's volunteering at reading this year ?

This will be my second year with hotbox events, looking forward to it, I'm travelling from Oxford.

I'll be there as a volunteer virgin! :D

Just logged on too and saw I'm on Charlie 1 shifts.
My main priority was avoiding working through Paramore on Friday evening, tough night shift straight after the Friday headliners though!

Pretty nervous as I'm going by myself too with friends not interested.

No need to worry about coming by yourself, loads of others do as well.

You'll get to know everyone within the first day.
I'll be watching Paramore as well, luckily I managed to nab myself Echo 2 shift :)

ha the dreaded night shift !!

I'm a Reading virgin & on my own too, but not a CAT virgin so I know it'll be friendly & fun :)

Hey anyone doing the bravo shifts? Seems like I'm the only one! ha ha! I'm a complete virgin when it comes to all this too! I'm trying to get up there tuesday night otherwise I would be able to take you from aylesbury? Although I only passed my driving test 3 months ago so it may be a bit on the hairy side!

I've booked my trains today, decided to arrive on Tuesday despite first shift not til Thursday so I can start getting to know people early and seeing what we'll fill our free nights with!

Anyone else at all on Charlie 1?

Hello to all old and new, I'm on Alpha shift this is my 4th year ^_^ it looks like i'll be on my own as my friend said last night he's going to pull out due to not getting the same shift as me =(

Either way I hope to meet some anyone up for a good time and smashing another Reading festival.

Hey I just added you if your wondering who :) Aaron.

blaketovey92 posted this 07 August 2012

Feel better now knowing there'll be many more on their own than I thought!

butternut88 posted this 08 August 2012

totally cool , seems there are more people by themselves as I assumed...
It' s quite good I reckon, as it is difficult to get into contact if there are huge groups of people.
What are you all taking with you guys?
Does anybody know how good the camp-site is equipped?
Is it similar to Latitide?

HelloKittyAy posted this 08 August 2012

Hey Butter, haven't done Latitude but Reading:

If it is similar to last year then the campsite is ok, the CAT's compound is at the far end of other staff areas, so you had to walk maybe 50 meters out of the gate to get to the showers and toilets.

Generally the toilets were nice and clean and I never waited more than 5 mins before one came free etc. Only used the catering quarters once but they seemed spacious and a lot cheaper then buying food elsewhere.

There will plenty of people alone and it's a great place to start making friends with people in the same situation :)

This is fifth year working at reading and I too started out on my own. Facility are pretty good, as aaron said you don't have to wait to long for toilets and showers, there is a canteen that does reduced priced meals and hotbox take money out of deposit so you don't have to have too much money they also sell beer in there. I will be working with a fair number of you as I am supervisor on white and brown on all morning shifts

Sounds great, cheers for the info. Jep can't hardly was, especially the volunteering factor was important to me. Thought would be awesome to experience that.
If we are lucky the weather might be even nice with us....?!
