Hey!
I've just signed up to work at Reading this year (and considering latitude..) and i'm a little excited haha. Anyone else signed up yet? This is my first time working at a festival and i'm going it alone, anyone else in the same position? It would be nice to get to know a few of you before hand!

Oh cool, I'm pretty nervous about going alone though it seems as if lots of people do the same so that's not so bad! I'm thinking I may as well do latitude too cause my deposit covers both festivals haha!
hey i will be at reading too and i'm also on my own. :D
so worried about the tent and blaah
Haha tens are okay once you put them up a few times, saying that I'll probably news mine up this year and need someone to help! Have you been to reading before?
Hey,
I've just signed up for Reading too, doing it on my own, slightly nervous, never even been to reading fest before let alone worked there!

went to reading last year and you?
but this is my first time volunteering there :O
Yeah I camped there last year for the first time, I loved it so much I had to come back this year! I feel better knowing there's more people going it alone, I actually think this year is going to be so good!
i'm going it alone this year at reading! last year i went there as a ticket-holder (and it was amazing!!) but i can't wait to volunteer! :)
im glad so many people are doing it alone... i have gone to festivals (working) by myself in the past but not one as big as Reading!... Doing a fair few festivals this summer with different companies... really excited!
Hi! I am in your same position! Its really nice to see that other people are going without their friends! This makes me feel a little less nervous! I actually can't wait to see that I got the role (volunteer)... :)What do you expect guys? [:I]
I really don't know what to expect! Though looking at previous threads everyone seems to have a great time :) I really can't work out which evening I want to have off the most, every day there's bands I really wanna see!! :(N
Okay I got the position!! I expect it to be really cool! I hope I will get friday off (or at least a good shift)!! I can help with the tents, I need to buy my one though XD. Should we start the Sun Dance?? [:D]
Haha well there's some sun here in London today.. Maybe spring is finally here! I hope the weather is good for reading!!
Hey everyeone. Worked Leeds on my own last year and loved it. Thinking of doing reading this year. Any ideas of the car park distance to the camp site and campsite distance from arena?
i think there were boats from the car park to the campsite
Hi everyone :) I've just been confirmed for reading....really happy I'm not the only one going solo! it's my first time volunteering and my first time at reading....I'm swinging between 5yr old on Xmas morning excited and petrified. I'm hoping for Friday eve off...but love the Lumineers so would be ok with Sunday. Roll on August!!!! :)

I'm from north london and been the last two years in a row. Of course I'd chip in petrol money, snacks and witty banter :p

Hey everyone! :D
It's so good to see lots of new volunteers ready to hit Reading 2013 ^^
This will be my 5th year working here, but will be coming alone again - but don't worry everyone is usually super friendly and in the same positions as you so you make friends no problem :)
@TomTom the car parking is actually located next to the staff camping, you could throw a bread roll to your tent from your car :)
Looking forward to meeting anyone who wants to say hi and have a drink, I'll be there from Tuesday morning, so happy to help anyone who wants it ^^
Aaron
So hey again :)
It's getting pretty close to reading yay! I mentioned before about traveling up to the festival with some company, so if anyone is interested in driving up/getting the train/coach up add me on fb and let's chat! (I keep forgetting about this forum that's why :p)
Emily 'Toni' Reed is the name :)
Emily, I just added you! I'm Ambra London XD Aaron, you sound like a really fun and friendly person, please feel free to add me too if you want! ;)
Driving to Reading from Bath/Bristol area. Able to take 2 others! Would be nice to have some company haha
Its getting close now! Getting excited now with shift preferences released. Bit scary too though as im coming on my own. Took me a while to choose my shift preferences as theres so many good bands, don't think id be too disappointed with any shift!
Sounds great I will look you up in a moment! ^_^ I'm too getting super excited now :D I'm flying to Gateick on Monday afternoon I think but still don't have a concrete plan from there so I need to sort myself out! Ajajajjaj :)
Ambra I couldn't find you on facebowl, my phone Internet is pretty rubbish >< anyone can feel free to add me in easy to find if you look for 'Aaron hello kitty blandin hostage grant' (long rediculous name-long story sorry) ^_^ I can't believe it's almost that time of year again! :D
Hey hey, another person going on their own here! So relieved to see I'm not the only one. Fingers crossed I get Delta 2 :)
Hey everyone!! Me and a couple of friends are taking the train from Paddington station (I think lol) send me an email or add me on FB (dania bawi) if you wanna join! And Emily!! I just added you on FB :) also, this may sound stupid but do we have any access to a plug?? For like phone chargers?
Hey Dani just got your Facebook invite ^_^ to answer your question yes there are plugs at the staff compound but they are very limited - for example maybe 10 sockets, but 200 CATs so you need to work out a way to fit in.
BUT when on shift your portacabin in your zone will have power and you can use those more easily :)
Aaron I just added you on fb!
I really can't wait now. I just want them to tell us which shifts we got so I can start booking my tickets to get there! Really hope I got Delta 2 >.<
Hi everyone!! I got Bravo!! whoop whooop!! I'm so excited it getting closer and closer!! :D What did you people get at the end?? Is anyone arriving on Wednesday morning from London? :)
Tower Cats Echo 2, anyone else?
Hi All
I'm new to this topic and the 2013 Reading adventure, also travelling Han solo from London. I'm in the Alpha team and will be arriving for Wednesday. looking forward to the music and experience. You all seem really friendly, so feel free to add me on Facebook my full name is \"Mitesh Vagadia\" the one with the black and white picture.
Anyone travelling from North West/North London area please do let me know.
Thanks
Okaay so I got Delta1, anyone else get that too?? Wanted delta2 but ah well! Looks like i'll be coming up on wednesday morninh :)
Any tower Charlies? :)
Okay, at risk of sounding really stupid, what do you all mean 'I got delta' and stuff? I haven't had any contact from hotbox since they said I got a place and now I'm worried! I thought I just turned up on the day....
Lizzieee - did you add your shift preferences, a couple of weeks ago a shift planner was uploaded and you chose which shifts you would like to work in order of preference? If not, log in to your hotbox paam account and click on reading festival - event info, should tell you there which team/shifts you are working. I'm in alpha btw! Hope that helps!
Oh I see! Thanks. I didnt get an email about doing my preferences :/ But I've been assigned Tower Cats Bravo, any idea what sorta thing the tower teams are? Something about fire is all I can work out so far!
Tower teams generally work at the top of the fire towers that are positioned within the campsite. The towers are approximately five meters high and offer a great view of the festival site, so help in spotting fires, suspicious behaviour, etc. The person at the top of the tower reports any issues via radio which then helps the ground teams respond quickly.
Mitesh, added you on fb and have space in my car to pick you up en route to Reading, will arrange details with you :)
Thanks a lot man you've just saved me a lot of hassle.
Hey Mitesh, just added you on fb :)
Hi! I'm in Delta 1 so will probably travel by train, on Wednesday morning from London. I'm going on my own, so if anyone wants to join, please add me on facebook: Ola Meffray. :) Can't wait, less than 2 weeks now! :)
Hey Ola! I'm in Bravo, but I'm travelling on Wednesday morning morning too, I just added you on fb
;)
Hey Jonathan, whereabouts in Essex are you? We're travelling down on the Tuesday evening, only problem is coming back - we may be travelling back on the Sunday night but I see that you're working until 9am Monday morning. Depends what my other passenger says really, but can definitely offer you a lift there if it helps (dependent on whereabouts in Essex you are of course)!
Is tomorrow guys! Woo!
