2019 Download Festival volunteer shifts, info pack, meal ordering!

Friday, May 31, 2019

If you're volunteering with us at the 2019 Download Festival your shifts have now been assigned, your info pack is ready, and you can order your meal vouchers!

You can find out which shift pattern you're on by logging into Hotbox Events PAAM. Your shift is shown on the Download Festival Event Info page. Please note that if you've only just had your Download Festival volunteer position confirmed then your shift may still be pending. We're assigning new volunteer shifts daily so please check back for an update!

Please also login to read your Info Pack and order your Meal Vouchers!

There is a wealth of info in the pack including pre-event and onsite contact details, travel and arrival info, where and when you need to check-in at Download, information about festival passes, how volunteer shifts are organised, Download catering, your briefings and training sessions, emergency procedures, staff and volunteer roles and responsibilities at the festival, festival security procedures, festival CCTV, Health and Safety, festival communications, info about the Download Green Initiatives and more!

The information within the pack is very important so please make sure you login and read it before you arrive at Download!

To read your Info Pack, you need to:

  1. Login to Hotbox Events PAAM
  2. Click the Portal button in the main menu.
  3. Click the Info Pack button.

We're receiving a lot of questions about volunteering at Download; most of the answers can now be found in the Info Pack so please make sure you read it!

You'll also find the below documents in the Portal, please make sure you read them before arriving at Download:

  1. Health and Safety at Festival Sites

If you haven't already please make sure you read the following documents which can be found on the Event Info page:

  1. Right to Work and Volunteer Fact Sheets
  2. Fire Backpack Guidance
  3. Catering Sample Menu

The above PDFs can also be found on the Download Event Info page.

To order your Download Festival meal vouchers you need to:

  1. Login to Hotbox Events PAAM
  2. Select the Download Event Info button.
  3. Follow the instructions for meal voucher ordering.
  4. Please note the deadline for pre-ordering meal vouchers is Thursday 6th June.

We'll again have our very own caterer situated in the Hotbox Events compound! The Hotbox caterer will be serving a variety of hot and cold food, drinks, and snacks, from midday on Tuesday 11th June.

You can find a sample menu in Hotbox Events PAAM.

Meal vouchers are available at a greatly discounted price compared to the public festival food outlets.

Pre-ordered meal vouchers cost £5.50 and with each voucher you can purchase food and drink up to the value of £6.00 e.g. you get a further discount for pre-ordering your meals!

Please note that packed lunches cannot be bought on the day and must be pre-ordered; please bear this in mind if you'd like a packed lunch to take on shift with you.

Packed lunch vouchers are day specific but meal vouchers are not, standard meal vouchers can be used at our caterer any time between Tuesday 11th and Monday 17th June.

If you've not volunteered at a festival before and you're wondering what it's like volunteering with Hotbox Events, make sure you checkout some of our staff and volunteer interviews! You'll get to hear from volunteers who have joined us talking about how they found their shifts, how they were looked after by the Hotbox team, what it was like volunteering for the first time on their own, taking on more responsibility year on year and progressing from a volunteer to staff role, and even how the experience and confidence gained has helped with their career progression away from festivals!

If you have specific questions about volunteering at festivals try our festival FAQs! They're regularly updated and packed full of answers to the questions we're usually asked, plus lots of handy hints and tips about volunteering at festivals.

If you'd like to chat with others who have volunteered with us before you can head over to our festival forum where you'll find both new and returning volunteers chatting about what it's like to volunteer at festivals, arranging to share lifts, asking and answering questions about volunteering at festivals...

If you’ll be volunteering on your own and are a little apprehensive, don't worry, every year at least half of those who join us do so on their own the first time and then return year on year to meet up with friends they've made volunteering!

Another way to see what volunteering is like is to head over to our festival photo galleries where you'll find thousands of photos of our volunteers having an amazing time whilst volunteering with us!

If there is anything you'd like to ask or you'd just like to chat with us about volunteering, please don't hesitate to email or call the office or get in touch via one of our socials!

See you at Download 😊
